AIRSHOW-Boeing upbeat on global aerospac…

FARNBOROUGH, England, July 21 (Reuters) – Boeing Co’s surmount defense official on Wednesday said he was feeling upbeat about the prospect for the global defense market, saying there were more customers at the Farnborough Airshow this year and ‘a small more optimism about the economy.’

Dennis Muilenburg, president of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, told Reuters the overall mood was being buoyed by strong commercial orders.

‘Even though it’s a self-same challenging marketplace in the U.S. and European defense markets perpendicular now, we’re getting some clarity in those markets in articles of agreement of customer priorities,’ he said. Boeing also saw continued strength in the Asian-Pacific and Middle Eastern defense markets, he said.

‘I’m not seeing the cloud,’ Muilenburg said. ‘I’m upbeat.’
